
South Africa discover U20 World Cup opponents
South Africa men’s Under-20 national team have discovered their opponents at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup finals.
The tournament will be hosted by Chile between 27 September and 19 October, as the best under-20 national teams in the world battle to be crowned global champions.
Amajita will face European powerhouse France, who were crowned champions in 2013, 1989 semi-finalists USA and tournament debutants, New Caledonia, in Group E.
The four best third-placed teams from the six groups will progress to the knockout stage along with the six group winners and six runners-up.
South Africa will be making their fifth appearance in the U20 World Cup and they will be hoping to reach the knockout phase for the second time, having been eliminated in the Round of 16 in the 2009 edition.
Coach Raymond Mdaka’s side will head into this year’s tournament as African champions after clinching the 2025 CAF U20 AFCON title in Egypt on May 18.
