Former Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk recently announced that she and her partner will be expecting a baby. Van Wyk, who hails from Alberton, took to her Instagram account on Tuesday in announcing that she and Swedish football player Julia Molin are pregnant. The former Banyana talisman captioned her post in saying, “Our little pack is growing with a tiny human coming in 2025” as the two slide gallery made waves on social media. Molin and van Wyk have been teammates for large parts of their careers after turning out for clubs such as Glasgow and JVW FC together. Van Wyk is considered a legend in South African football while she holds the record for being the highest-capped player in Africa. The 37-year-old retired from football in 2023, which came off the back of a successful Women’s Africa Cup of Nations victory with South Africa in 2022.
