Did you know? – How Adams made history at Stellenbosch
While Jayden Adams continues to make a name for himself in South African football, the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder will always be remembered for one particular feat he achieved at former club Stellenbosch FC.
It can be said that Adams is widely regarded as one of the best up-and-coming talents in the PSL. Eyebrows were raised when the 23-year-old signed for Sundowns in January 2025, however, the popular midfielder impressed upon donning the yellow of Masandawana.
Now a star at Chloorkop, did you know that Adams became Stellenbosch’s first academy graduate to sign a professional contract?
In August 2020, Stellies announced that Adams, who was 18 at the time, was promoted to the first-team. The technically sound midfielder also signed a long-term contract as the first academy youngster to play in the senior team since the club’s inception in 2016.
Adams grew from strength to strength since his days at Stellenbosch, as he continues to be an integral player for both Mamelodi Sundowns and the Bafana Bafana national team.
