Broos backing Bafana Bafana in crunch AFCON qualifiers
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is backing the team to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted in Morocco next year.
“We are aware of the importance of the two games in front of us, two games of qualification. After those two games it’s finished, so being the bronze medalist of the last AFCON and looking at our opponents in our group, we have respect for them,” Broos said when addressing the media in Johannesburg.
“But they are not the biggest teams in Africa. I think it would be a little shame if we couldn’t qualify.”
“We need three or two points to have security, we can also write a little bit of history by qualifying two times in a row. It should be a nice achievement,” he added.
Broos also shared that Mihlali Mayambela will be out of the upcoming games against Uganda and South Sudan, and Stellenbosch’s Devin Titus will be taking his place in the squad.
“It would be nice to end the season with qualification for AFCON again. We will try to qualify in the first game, it will not be easy because we’re playing against a team that has already qualified.”
“We can do it because we have quality in that group. We are confident even though our last game in Congo was not our best. And we have some players back that we didn’t have in Congo,” he concluded.
