Bafana Bafana player profile: Nyiko Sydney Mobbie

Date of Birth: 11 September 1994 Place of Birth: Shikundu, Limpopo, South Africa Position: Right-back Height: 1.80m Nyiko Sydney Mobbie is an experienced right-back who recently joined SuperSport United and has been part of the South African national team set-up since 2019. Mobbie graduated from the Free State Stars academy and quickly gained the attention from a number of high profile clubs in the PSL. The defender then signed for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2019 but was unable to make a name for himself with the Tshwane-based giants. Mobbie then spent numerous loan spells at clubs such as Stellenbosch FC, Chippa United and Sekhukhune United. It was at Sekhukhune United where Mobbie found some consistency to his game, as he spent three successful years with the Limpopo side before joining SSU in 2024. Known for his industrious work rate on the right flank, Mobbie was called-up to the South African national team in 2019 where he made his Bafana debut during a 3-0 defeat against Lesotho in a 2020 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture.
