Bafana Bafana player profile: Fawaaz Basadien

Date of Birth: 23 December 1996 Place of Birth: South AfricaPosition: Defender Height: Unknown Fawaaz Basadien is a South African footballer who plays for Stellenbosch FC and Bafana Bafana. The 27-year-old has established himself as a regular starter for the Western Cape outfit and his talent earned him a call up to the South African senior men’s national team. Yet to make an appearance for the side, Basadien could finally make his debut when South Africa take on Congo in the AFCON qualifiers. Basadien became a household name in South African football when he was instrumental in Moroka Swallows’ fight against relegation in the 2021/22 season. As he continues to carve a reputation for himself, the player has been linked to a transfer to Kaizer Chiefs, but instead he prolonged his contract with Stellies. “For me personally, it’s about controlling what I can control. Obviously, I am still contracted to Stellenbosch – that’s where I am playing,” Basadien says. “All I can do is to put in good performances week in and week out. I mean, I am there to do my job. Never mind what is happening in the media.” “Obviously, it’s good to have a club like Chiefs interested in you. But I am contracted to Stellenbosch, my focus is on the club and putting in good performances regularly.”
