Bafana star ‘close’ to major European move
Bafana Bafana international Luke Le Roux is reportedly on the radar of Swedish giants Hammarby IF as he continues to shine in the Allsvenskan.
Le Roux, who currently plies his trade with IFK Varnamo, could well find himself playing in the UEFA Conference League in the near future.
Hammarby finished 2nd in the Allsvenskan last season and in turn, secured their ticket in European competition for next season. According to his agent, Matthew Moore, the Swedish club have officially approached Varnamo for Le Roux’s services.
“Yes, I can confirm that Hammarby have made an approach to Varnamo about Luke Le Roux,” Moore told iDiski Times.
“This move would allow Luke to play at the highest possible level leading up to the 2026 World Cup, which he hopes to be a part of.
“The player has been an outstanding professional during his time at Varnamo. The club got him on a really good deal in the summer and will make a good profit.
“They have more than enough time to find a replacement, so we fully expect them to not stand in the way.”
