Bafana Bafana ‘line up’ Tanzania and Namibia friendlies
Bafana Bafana are reportedly set to face Tanzania and Namibia in June as Hugo Broos looks to keep his team sharp for their final four 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
South Africa top Group C on 13 points, five ahead of Rwanda (2nd) and Benin (3rd) after six matches, with the next two rounds of fixtures taking place in September.
Broos will use the friendlies against the Taifa Stars and the Brave Warriors to evaluate the depth of his squad as no Mamelodi Sundowns players will be called up due to their commitments at the Club World Cup.
The Brazilians won’t have much of an off-season as they’ll be preparing for the tournament in the United States, which runs from 14 June to 13 July.
Both games are expected to take place on home soil, with Broos’ side facing the East Africans on June 6 before meeting their neighbours from the north-west four days later.
The fixtures are still waiting to be confirmed as South African Football Association (SAFA) spokesperson Mninawa Ntloko told Independent Media: “We haven’t announced anything.”
