Bafana Bafana will learn their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage opponents in six days, when the draw for the competition is held in Rabat, Morocco, on the evening of Monday 27 January.
South Africa, who secured qualification for their 12th AFCON appearance by finishing top of their preliminary group ahead of Uganda, Congo and South Sudan, have been seeded in Pot 2 for the draw.
They are joined in Pot 2 by Cameroon, Mali, Tunisia, DR Congo and Burkina Faso.
Pot 1, the top-seeded teams, are Morocco (hosts), Ivory Coast (reigning champions), Egypt, Algeria, Senegal and Nigeria.
Pot 3 is made up of Gabon, Angola, Zambia, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea and Benin, while Pot 4 features Mozambique, Comoros, Tanzania, Sudan, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The draw, which will be held at 8pm CAT, will see one team from each Pot assigned to a group (A through F), allowing for six groups of four teams each. Morocco, as the host nation, have already been assigned as the top seed in Group A.
The 2025 AFCON will kick-off with a Group A match between Morocco and a to-be-determined opponent on 21 December 2025. The tournament will conclude with the final on 18 January 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
